First grader writing desk: standards

Modern furniture standards are developed taking into account the physiological characteristics of children of different ages. For a child 6-8 years old, the height of the desk should not interfere with the correct development of the spine. Therefore, it is preferable to choose furniture with adjustment.

• The standard heights range from 600 to 750 mm. 750-770 mm is the typical height for an adult desk. This means that by purchasing adjustable furniture for lessons, it will be possible to use it until graduation and even the entire period of study at a university.
• The depth of the modern writing desk is from 500 to 650 mm. When choosing a narrow option, it is likely that the first grader will not have enough space to place textbooks, notebooks, stationery, items for creative activities (application, drawing, modeling from plasticine). If the countertop is too deep, the child will not be able to reach the edge with his hand, and some of the surface will remain unclaimed.
• Width - not less than 800-1000 mm. This is the minimum line. The maximum dimensions vary in relation to the free space in the nursery.
• The dimensions of the corner models are designed to fit furniture even in a small, compact room. Corner tables for lessons provide for the presence of several pedestals and a shelf fixed directly to the table top. The general dimensions of the corner version are from 800 x 800 mm to 2400 x 2400 mm (depending on the size of the room and the dimensions of the chipboard sheet).

Important! If it is structurally provided for the use of shelf superstructures, then the depth should be increased in accordance with the dimensions of the shelf itself.

How to choose a desk

To choose a really good, ergonomic, functional table for a student, you need to pay attention to the materials used in the manufacture. The main thing that:

• the tabletop was resistant to abrasion and mechanical stress;
• all ends are glued with a high-quality, dense edge;
• there were a minimum of sharp corners on protruding planes;
• the fittings were reliable, durable, functional;
• overall dimensions were appropriate for a specific age category.

It is also important that the design of the children's desk meets sanitary standards for colors. That is, it is necessary to choose furniture of not very bright shades, because of which the eyes and brain give in to additional stress.
